Botox
Botox, short for Botulinum toxin, is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
Botox is primarily known for its cosmetic applications, especially in reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines. It is commonly used to treat:
Forehead lines: Horizontal lines that form across the forehead when raising the eyebrows.
Frown lines: Vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) due to facial expressions like frowning.
Crow’s feet: Fine lines that radiate from the corners of the eyes when smiling or squinting.
Botox works by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles responsible for causing these wrinkles, giving the skin a smoother and more youthful appearance.
Jeuveau
Jeuveau, also known as prabotulinumtoxinA, is another brand of botulinum toxin type A, similar to Botox and Xeomin. It is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and is used for cosmetic purposes to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines. In a sense, it is the latest version of Botox.
Cosmetic Uses: Jeuveau is primarily used for aesthetic applications, similar to Botox and Xeomin. It is commonly used to treat facial wrinkles and lines, including:
Forehead lines
Frown lines (glabellar lines)
Crow’s feet
Jeuveau works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the targeted facial muscles, causing them to relax and leading to a smoother and more youthful appearance. Results can be seen within 2-3 days from treatment, and effects last for 4-6 months.
Jeuveau was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2019 for cosmetic use, making it one of the newer options in the market for reducing facial wrinkles and lines.
Skin Boosters
Skin boosters are a type of cosmetic treatment aimed at improving the hydration, texture, and overall quality of the skin. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that add volume to specific areas of the face, skin boosters are typically formulated with hyaluronic acid, vitamins, antioxidants, and sometimes amino acids. These substances are injected into the skin in a series of micro-injections.
-
Hydration: Skin boosters primarily work by deeply hydrating the skin. Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that holds water, is a common ingredient used in skin boosters. This helps to improve skin elasticity, smoothness, and radiance.
Improvement of Skin Quality: Skin boosters are used to improve skin texture and tone. They can reduce the appearance of fine lines, superficial wrinkles, and acne scars, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
-
Skin boosters are typically used on areas of the face, neck, and hands that may show signs of aging or sun damage. They can also be used on other parts of the body where skin quality needs improvement.
-
The procedure involves injecting small amounts of the skin booster solution into the skin using a fine needle. Multiple sessions are usually recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.
-
Results from skin booster treatments can vary depending on the individual, but many people report smoother, more hydrated skin with improved overall texture. Results are often gradual and cumulative, becoming more noticeable over time.
-
Skin boosters are generally considered safe when performed by a qualified and experienced healthcare provider. Common side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which typically resolve within a few days.
Before undergoing skin booster treatment, it's important to consult with a health care provider who can assess your skin concerns, discuss expectations, and create a personalized treatment plan that meets your needs.
Skin Fillers
Fillers are a type of cosmetic injectable used to add volume to different areas of the face. It's commonly used to fill in wrinkles and fine lines, augment lips, and contour facial features. The most common type of filler is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps retain moisture and softness.
-
Fillers are primarily used to restore volume and fullness to the face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and enhancing facial contours.
-
There are different types of fillers, categorized by the substance they're made from (e.g., hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid). Our spa uses hyaluronic acid fillers.
-
The procedure involves injecting the filler into specific areas of the face using a fine needle.
-
Results are immediate and can last from several months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's metabolism.
-
Fillers are generally safe when administered by a trained and qualified healthcare provider. However, potential side effects include temporary redness, swelling, and bruising. In rare cases, allergic reactions or vascular occlusion.
Before deciding on filler treatment, it's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare provider who can assess your specific needs, discuss expectations, and ensure you're a suitable candidate for the procedure.
Xeomin (Coming Soon)
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is another brand of botulinum toxin type A, similar to Botox. Like Botox, Xeomin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and is used for various cosmetic and medical applications.
Cosmetic Uses: Xeomin is primarily used for its cosmetic applications to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines. It is commonly employed to treat the same conditions as Botox, including:
Forehead lines
Frown lines (glabellar lines)
Crow’s feet
Xeomin works similarly to Botox by temporarily relaxing the targeted facial muscles, leading to smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.
